There are no direct flights from Kuala Lumpur. Most routes connect through Doha, Dubai or Istanbul.

Halal restaurants are easy to find, especially around Lavapiés. The Mosque of Madrid (M-30) welcomes visitors. Many tapas contain pork (jamón), so ask before ordering.
Usera, Madrid's Chinatown, is full of Chinese restaurants and Asian supermarkets for when you miss home.
Lunch runs from 2 to 4pm, and dinner rarely starts before 9pm. Snack on tapas in between.
Bring an adapter: Malaysia and Singapore use Type G plugs. Cards are accepted almost everywhere.
